I’m a writer from West Sussex in southern England, but after 30 years of urban life in London and Liverpool, I now live in a remote village 1,000 metres up in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania. In London I worked in the arts world; in Liverpool I became a business magazine editor, then a writer of non-fiction books. Now in Romania, I’m trying to write too many books at once, running workshops for new writers under the brand Freemagination, and working as a ‘native’ for companies in Romania who need their English text proofed, edited and polished.
Inspiration for a writer from every window:
Books written in Romania (so far):
Din Liverpool în Carpati or A stake in Transylvania – Romanian language book telling stories of life in a village 1,000 metres up in the Carpathians; how and why I came here, and why I’ve stayed. (English edition should be published in 2018)
Dragoni pe cerul Londrei or Dragons over London – a bilingual (EN/RO) children’s story telling the true story of London from a different perspective. Adventure story for age 10+
Floss catelusul pierdut or Floss the lost puppy – a sweet story (bilingual En/Ro) for aged 7+, based on truth and set in a mountain village oddly like my own.
